Last night The Washington Post reported that the White House is planning a hostile takeover of the USPS by firing the Board of Governors and moving control of the USPS to the Dept. of Commerce.
This is an attack on our jobs, the millions of Americans who rely on the critical public service we provide, and our storied national treasure.
The law created the Postal Service as an independent agency, free from the shifting political winds, and dedicated to serving the American public. The law created the Postal Board of Governors, and empowers it and it alone to hire and fire the Postmaster General.
Any effort by the Administration to remove the Board or fire postal executives is clearly illegal.
