Join us for an important rally to raise awareness about upcoming changes to the United States Postal Service that could significantly impact mail delivery across our region.
What’s Happening
The USPS “Regional Transportation Optimization” plan is scheduled to roll out in May. This initiative threatens to:
- Delay local mail delivery, particularly in rural Western Colorado communities
- Disrupt essential services many residents depend on
- Change mail processing procedures without adequate public input
Recent Developments
- The Washington Post has reported that the Trump Administration will soon issue an Executive Order firing the Postal Board of Governors and placing the United States Postal Service under the control of the Commerce Department. If this reporting is true, it would be an outrageous, unlawful attack on a storied national treasure, enshrined in the Constitution and created by Congress to serve every American home and business equally.
- Service cuts may be implemented nationwide as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Postmaster General DeJoy have made an agreement to work together to make the USPS “more efficient” – changes that could further impact
Why It Matters
Rural communities in Western Colorado rely heavily on timely mail service for medications, important documents, bills, and staying connected. These changes could disproportionately affect our most vulnerable neighbors.
